Top 5 Firefox Addons for Web Designers

One of the greatest things about Mozilla Firefox is the addons. And since a lot of Firefox developers are web designers, there’s a ton of tools made just for web designers. So I present to you my 5 favorite. Which means they’re the best, I guess.

5. IE Tab
Any web designer will tell you that one of the biggest parts of web design is getting your work to function properly in Internet Explorer. Well IE Tab lets you do that without every leaving Firefox. IE Tab will open up our file exactly like it would look in the version of IE you have installed in a convenient tab.

4. Console²
You know how in IE when someones screwed up their javascript it lets you know theres an error at the bottom of the screen? Then you know that other than letting you know, it isn’t good for much else. Console² set out to help you debug your javascript, css, and more from the comfort of Firefox.

3. SeoQuake
Assuming you’re a web designer with a website, you probably like to know how your little slice of the internet compares to the other slices. SeoQuake is the end all beat all of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools, providing Page Rank, Alexa Rank, Google/Yahoo/LIVE search index, and a ton more.

2. ColorZilla
Imagine this: You’re browsing around and find a color on a website that you really like. And you really want to use it in a design of your own. So you take a screenshot, paste it into photoshop or whatever, and use the eyedropper to snag the RGB, Hex, etc. That’s a bit much, don’t you think? With ColorZilla, there’s a built in color eyedropper tool that lets you snag the color of anything on a page. Additionally, you can set it to automatically copy the color so you can easily paste it into your code or graphic editor.

1. Web Developer Toolbar
This is the greatest asset to a web designer that uses Firefox. Its features are, but certainly not limited to, CSS editing, viewing IDs and classes, table hierarchy, and quickly validating a page. It’s definitely a must have. To really grasp the greatness of this plugin, you’ve got to download it and try it out yourself.
